Ex Hex, the latest project from versatile underground rock veteran Mary Timony, is playing the High Noon Saloon on April 11. Ahead of that, we sat down with Tone Madison contributor Grant Phipps to talk about some of Timony’s earlier work, with projects including Autoclave and Helium. While Ex Hex’s muscular power-pop is as good a starting point as any, it’s just one facet of Timony’s varied body of work. Grant recommends three songs for further exploration: Autoclave’s “Go Far,” Helium’s “OOO,” and the solo track “The Hour Glass.”
