Nick Hart has been working the Madison stand-up scene for years, spinning raffish and rambly stories into comedy sets, hosting stand-up showcases of his own, and championing/attempting to contain the human spark plug known as Frandu. Dude also ran for mayor in 2011, but was knocked out in the primary with 1.58 percent of the vote (still, that’s just shy of 600 votes!).

Hart got his first shot at late-night TV on June 9, performing a four-minute set on Conan, Conan O’Brien’s TBS show. He spent most of his time recounting a misadventure in the produce section, during which he learned that green onions and scallions are the same thing. (And what’s the deal with chives?!) It’s a bit confrontational, a bit slow-burn, a bit self-deprecating. And you can watch it now. Hart will be hosting at the Comedy Club on State from July 12 through 14, with headliner Matt Braunger.
