This Giving Tuesday, give Tone Madison the future it deserves

Chip in to keep our reader-supported journalism afloat.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 60 local newsrooms across the country have closed. According to Poynter, this number continues to grow. The crisis has been especially hard on independent publications, including Minneapolis’ iconic City Pages.

At Tone Madison, things are a bit different. But they’re also not easy.

We are not a large newsroom. We don’t have the backing of a big foundation, a deep-pocketed parent company, or major corporate advertisers to help share costs. What we do have is you.

Tone Madison Sustainers make up the majority of our funding through recurring monthly donations. That money goes directly to our wide variety of writers and illustrators who have peeled back the layers on labor issues, protests, live-streaming local music, and films to watch from the comfort of your home. It covers our modest overhead. It gives us the freedom and independence to call it like we see it.
Our Sustainers are so amazing, in fact, that one anonymous monthly giver is matching up to $100 in the gifts donated through the rest of the week!

That means that your one-time gift of $25 becomes $50. Your first month’s recurring donation of $15 becomes $30, thanks to a fellow reader who values our work just as much as you do.

What does your recurring monthly gift mean for our future?

As we approach 2021, the issues facing our community aren’t going to disappear with the new year. Tone Madison has plans to expand our coverage and depth, but we can’t do it without you.

With your support, we can provide more in-depth coverage of the issues facing our community. We can plan more ambitious projects like the Flight Path series. A $15 per month gift could help secure more stories just like our most-viewed story this year.

Additionally, we plan to add part-time editors and fundraising coordinators, and build the beginnings of a bigger editorial board as we start 2021.

If you are unable to support us monthly, consider making a one-time gift of $25 or more today.

The landscape of media is shifting and shattering daily, and our close-knit community of supporters is helping keep our work alive. By working together, you prevent us from falling into the perils of an empty newsroom.

Thank you for your continued support.
