The week’s best Madison show announcements.
Vince Staples will play December 11 at Union South.
Long Beach, California rapper Vince Staples released a dense and absorbing debut album this year in Summertime ’06, so we’re pleasantly surprised that he’s added a last-minute show on December 11 at The Sett in Union South. Tickets are free and there are some available to non-UW folks, but they have to be claimed on November 30 at the Memorial Union box office. Madison’s CRASHprez and Lord Of The Fly open. Info/tickets
We haven’t heard much lately from Madison’s The Tiny Band, who use only small instruments (mini drum kit, ukulele, etc.) in their sets of charming pop originals and covers. But they’ll be back for a December 29 happy hour show at the High Noon. Info
Cincinnati post-metal outfit Ethicist will play December 12 at The Wisco. Info
The next installment of Nerd Nite Madison will take place December 16 at the High Noon Saloon and will feature talks on soils, talking animals, and the crimes of R. Kelly. The latter talk comes from Tone Madison‘s own Chris Lay. As usual, we’ll be partnering with the Nerd Nite folks to record the talks and release them as podcasts. Info
