Three guests and a number of awesome audience members helped us look back on the year in Madison music and culture when we recorded the second edition of live podcast, The Tone Cluster, this past Tuesday, December 1, at the High Noon Saloon. WSUM music director Emili Earhart, rapper and journalist Michael Penn II (aka CRASHprez), and DJ and Strictly Discs guy Evan Woodward joined me in a discussion that’s pretty all over the map, from the budding success of 17-year-old Madison MC Trapo to the importance of all-ages venues and DIY shows to racism to the pitfalls of sitting in the balcony at the Majestic. Evan also did double-duty on Tuesday night, spinning records before and after the panel discussion. Also I’m pretty sure Michael still needs a ride to the movies.
We’ll let you know the date of The Tone Cluster #3 soon. I can say for now that Ben Munson is preparing something pretty weird and awesome for that one.
