Pardon our dust as we reorganize this summer

Tone Madison announces new managing editor and other changes.

Tone Madison announces new managing editor and other changes.

We’ve got some exciting news to share: Oona Mackesey-Green has joined Tone Madison as Managing Editor. You’ve seen Oona’s byline here before, including on last summer’s ambitious Flight Path project, a written and audio series that charted grassroots resistance to the basing of fighter jets in Madison. Oona served for several years as managing editor of Northside News and has been deeply involved in the community as an activist and engaged citizen for years.

Over the remainder of this summer, Oona will be taking charge of Tone Madison‘s day-to-day editorial operations and working with the rest of our team to re-organize our site behind the scenes. We’ll keep publishing, but things may be a bit slower for a bit as we do some much-needed planning for the future and make sure this small, scrappy publication is running as well as it can.

We are able to embark on this next phase because Tone Madison‘s readers have supported us. If that support keeps growing, we’ll be able to do more hiring and build on our seven-year record of fiercely independent culture and politics coverage. If you value our work, please consider making a donation to help us do more of it.

An ode to the best and worst of Madison summers.
