The week’s best Madison show announcements.
Kool Keith plays the Majestic on September 23.
In what’s looking to be the biggest hip-hop event in Madison this fall, inimitable spaced-out surrealist and Dr. Octagon creator Kool Keith is slated to play the Majestic on September 23. Info/tickets
And a contender for the best metal show we’ll get in town this fall: Oregon doom adventurers Yob will play October 28 at the High Noon Saloon with the guttural San Francisco duo Black Cobra. But perhaps the biggest surprise here is that melodic Madison doom outfit Jex Thoth will be opening. Jex Thoth have had a busy past few years of touring the U.S. and Europe, including big European metal festivals and shows with bands including Windhand and Agalloch, but they’ve never actually played a show here in town. The band’s most recent album, Blood Moon Rise, ranked among our top 20 Madison records of 2013. Info/tickets
Twin Cities punk standbys Dillinger Four will play October 4 at the High Noon. Info/tickets
Lovable oddball comedian Nick Thune will return to the Comedy Club on State from October 22 through 24for five shows. Info/tickets
Eccentric Berlin singer-songwriter Mary Ocher will play September 11 at Good Style Shop. Info
