This year, we’re part of the national NewsMatch program, and it’s a big deal.
Tone Madison is a reader-supported publication. That means donations directly from you keep the lights on, pay our journalists, and help us fight the uphill battles that small independent media outlets face in this day and age. Today we launch our most crucial fundraising appeal, and it’s a massive opportunity to help us do more and better work in 2022.
For the first time ever, we are participating in NewsMatch, a national program for non-profit outlets. Between Nov. 1 and Dec. 1, NewsMatch will double every dollar we raise from you, up to $10,000. This means with your help, we can bring in $20,000 in this campaign alone. For a lean, frugal publication like ours, that’s a massive deal.
In 2022, we’re planning to revamp our website and expand our small editorial staff. Even as we grow and attract more interest from sponsors, reader donations remain our biggest source of support by far—and we want to keep it that way.
You can also learn more about where the money goes in our 2020 Annual Report.
You can help us reach our match goal by heading to tonemadison.com/donate, where you can either become a Tone Madison Sustainer through recurring monthly donations, or make a one-off donation in the amount of your choice. Every bit helps, and every bit counts double.
NewsMatch will double one-off donations, but there’s more. It will also double new monthly donations for one year. That means if you become a Sustainer today at the $10/month level, we get $240. That’s how simple it is to have a huge impact between now and the end of the year.
In the coming weeks, we’ll keep you posted on our progress and we’ll have some more exciting news to share. You can also join us at our December 11 fundraiser concert at Garver Feed Mill (lineup announcement coming any minute now!)—another easy way to help us out, have fun, and double your impact.
Thank you for getting us through our first seven years. With your help between now and Dec. 31, we can make sure 2022 is our best year yet.
