The Middleton-based electronic musician plays August 13 at the Eaux Claires festival.
Back in January, we recorded a live podcast conversation at the High Noon Saloon with Wisconsin electronic musicians Thomas Wincek and Samarah. After the talk, both guests treated the audience to full live sets. For Wincek (best known for his work in All Tiny Creatures, Volcano Choir, and Collections Of Colonies Of Bees), it was the Madison debut of an all-hardware, improvisational electronic setup.
We recorded the Middleton-based musician’s full set off the High Noon’s board, and we’re streaming it in full below, ahead of his performances on August 13 at the Eaux Claires Festival and August 19 show with Psychic Temple at Riverwest Public House in Milwaukee. In the middle of the set, Wincek stops to explain a bit about his setup, which relies on a goddam Zip disk to store his synth patches.
Wincek has several hours of the new solo-electronic material recorded and has also been working on new stuff with fellow ATC member Andrew Fitzpatrick. He also has been a touring member of Milwaukee-based Field Report lately, and says that project will be tracking a new album soon. On top of that, he has some September tour dates opening for and sitting in with guitarist William Tyler and his band. Those dates are listed below.
William Tyler/Thomas Wincek tour dates:
09/14/16 Chicago, IL Constellation
09/15/16 Nashville, TN The Belcourt
09/16/16 Asheville, NC The Mothlight
09/17/16 Saxapahaw, NC Haw River Ballroom
