A few fresh events worth adding to your calendar.
Noname.
We’ve always got our eyes peeled for shows being announced in Madison. Here’s what stands out from the past week’s newly added events. Keep up with more events, thoughtfully previewed by our writers, in our Calendar section.
Brennan Connors & Stray Passage. Oct. 21, Mason Lounge. The explosive Madison free-jazz trio will celebrate the release of its debut album, Emergence, at this show.
OTHERsound: Taj Raiden. Oct. 26, Art In. The Milwaukee rapper will headline the next installment of this monthly series, booked by Asumaya’s Luke Bassuener.
Half-Stack Sessions Fall Showcase. Nov. 4, Art In. The next public event from the Madison project aimed at creating a more inclusive music scene for women and non-binary people will feature music from scuzzy Minneapolis shoegazers Cult Of Lip, Heather The Jerk (the solo outlet of The Hussy and Proud Parents drummer Heather Sawyer), and Madison experimental duo And Illusions. (Full disclosure: And Illusions member Emili Earhart is a Tone Madison contributor.) This show is also a benefit for Proud Theater.
Noname, Nov. 20, Majestic. The Chicago rapper played Madison a couple times earlier this year behind her wonderful 2016 debut Telefone, but I’m glad she’s coming back for a proper headlining show. I couldn’t describe her work better than Tone Madison contributor Sasha Debevec-McKenney did in January, so go read that.
