A couple fresh events worth adding to your calendar.
Gel Set.
We’ve always got our eyes peeled for shows being announced in Madison. Here’s what stands out from the past week’s newly added events. Keep up with more events, thoughtfully previewed by our writers, in our Calendar section.
Son!, KennyHoopla, Zhalarina, Basi, knowsthetime. Nov. 4, Lothlorien Co-op. This show will be a good opportunity to check out a few of the promising voices emerging from and associated with UW-Madison’s First Wave program.
Gel Set, Spa Moans. Nov. 18, Mickey’s Tavern. LA-based producer and vocalist Laura Callier, aka Gel Set, makes electronic pop that’s both playful and grisly. She’ll play here behind the just-released album Body Copy, sharing the bill with ethereal Chicago project Spa Moans.
Galaxy Express 555. Dec. 9, Williamson Magnetic Recording Company. We at Tone Madison will be presenting this show from the gorgeous electronic solo project of Minneapolis-based musician Christopher Farstad. Local openers to be announced soon.
Erika Wennerstrom. Dec. 13, High Noon Saloon. The Heartless Bastards guitarist/singer/songwriter visits for a solo show. Heartless Bastards are a great live band, but it’ll likely be just as satisfying to hear Wennerstrom’s rich, smoky voice, and presumably some new songs, in a more stripped-down setting.
